The Oregon Senate Republicans may have little hope of regaining a majority this election cycle, but they decided to put up a fight in the 25th district. GOP nominee Dave Kim just received $15,000 from the Leadership Fund led by Senate Minority Leader Ted Ferrioli in the race against incumbent Senator Laurie Monnes Anderson. The donation evens up money raised between Kim and Monnes Anderson and only leaves an $8,000 cash-on-hand difference.
Recently, Kim’s campaign released a television ad attacking Monnes Anderson for her tax hike votes in the legislature. This donation should give Kim enough of a bump to get on cable television in the local Gresham area.
Senate Democrats are not too concerned, however, with nearly $700,000 cash-on-hand collectively between the PACs belonging to Monnes Anderson, the Senate Democratic Leadership Fund, Senate President Peter Courtney and Majority Leader Richard Devlin. This being the only target for the Senate Democrats, local lobbyists speculate they will spend whatever is necessary to protect their incumbent.
