He's back! Schwarzenegger to campaign in Portland

If you have a spare $1000 hiding somewhere between the sofa pillows you too can attend the upcoming fundraiser for U.S. Senator Gordon Smith with special guest California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  In an email sent out by the Republican Party of Oregon, potential contributors are invited to lunch at the Portland Hilton on Thursday, August 21st.  Priority seating raises the entrance fee to $2500 and photo opportunities are running for a meager $10,000.

The email invite was preceded by an invitation for Oregon GOPers to show support for Republican presidential nominee John McCain at the McCain Nation House Parties in several locations in the Portland metro area.  However, no mention of an event with both McCain and Smith standing side by side just yet.

Smith continues to campaign to the middle as he brings in a more moderate Republican to stump for him and consistently avoids joint appearances with the more conservative McCain.  He also recently announced he will not be joining fellow Republicans at the fall convention.  The strategy of distancing himself from the GOP appears to be working given the recent poll results showing Smith 12 points ahead of Democratic rival Jeff Merkley.

Ever see "End of Days"?

It's the only AS film where he snuffs himself while fighting Satan (Gabriel Byrne.) It won three Razzies, worst actor, worst supporting actor and worst director (AS, GB, Peter Hyams.) I felt ill and dirty after watching it.
I hope all you good Dems out there will show up at the Smith event and try to ask the California governor what is his favorite piece of Smith legislation. That oughta stump him.
