Union still boasting over taking out Macpherson

At a recent Service Employees International Union (SEIU) meeting for newly hired state employees (which included some new AFSCME employees) one union leader was still bragging over the organization's victory in the May primary campaign for Attorney General.  A source at the meeting tells the Inside Edge of the boastful spirit that continues down in Salem.  "Our people came together and took out the man who stole all of our pensions, and your pensions too!" she said referring to Democratic state Rep. Greg Macpherson who overhauled the state's PERS system in 2003.   SEIU funded Macpherson's Democratic opponent, John Kroger, with over $350,000 or nearly half his entire campaign budget to remind future legislators what kind of payback to expect if they refuse to meet the union's demands.

One other interesting statement made by the union leader was in reference to voting.  "The one thing I really love about being a member of a union is that during election time they send out a list of our union endorsed candidates we should vote for and I don't even have to think about it.  It's great!"
