John McCain needed an issue that would gain traction with independents and moderates in Oregon, a state which is expected to be a battleground in November.

His answer? Global warming.

Although John McCain failed to submit a statement for the Oregon Voters’ Pamphlet, the Democratic Party of Oregon has got his back. The DPO is helping out the Republican Senator by supplying one for him.

The faux statement—which the DPO posted on its website—hits on many of the Democratic Party’s talking points regarding McCain, which all fall under the blanket of the claim that the Republican would simply provide a third Bush term.

Gordon Smith finally decided to dip into the massive warchest he has accumulated and run his first television ad.

"I've shown a better way - thinking independently working with Democrats and Republicans. I approve this ad because no matter who our next president is – him or her, I will find common ground for the change we need," he says cheerfully.

Oregon has always been a bit ahead of the curve on the green movement, and since today is Earth Day, plenty of politicians have been speaking about their views on the environment.  read more »

The Democratic Party of Oregon’s platform conference is getting a boost this year: surrogates from the campaigns of the presidential hopefuls.

Chelsea Clinton signed on for a campaign appearance this Saturday, and the Obama campaign just announced that U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie (D-HI) will be speaking on Friday evening.  read more »
