A future for Hobbs?

There is no indication that Congressman David Wu will lose his bid for renomination to a sixth term in the Democratic primary, but one of his challengers could win by losing. Will Hobbs, a computer engineer, seems to have impressed Democrats with his uphill campaign against the incumbent – he was endorsed by The Oregonian – and Democratic insiders are predicting a political future for this newcomer.

Wu goes for Obama

Chalk one up for Obama. Rep. David Wu—one of Oregon’s superdelegates—announced today that he is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama’s bid for president.

"He's the embodiment of change," Wu said this morning on a conference call with reporters.

This time, can Erickson beat Hooley?

Oregonians rarely get the opportunity to see any real competitive races for Congress. Earl Blumenauer and Peter Defazio have solid Dem districts with large enough followings to ward off a serious challenge from any party. Greg Walden has seen a few scrappy Democratic candidates try and mount a race in his conservative eastern Oregon based district, but nothing the DCCC or the Democratic Party of Oregon pays any attention to. He won 67% of the vote in his last race.
