State Dems Rally Resources and Excitment

The Democratic Party of Oregon held one of their 21 Super Tuesday parties last night at the Tiffany Center, where members watched the results roll in from across the country.

“There is so much enthusiasm for a change in direction in the White House,” DPO Chair Meredith Wood Smith said of the mood in the Tiffany Center. “We will capitalize on the record interest in our early primaries. We will ride this wave all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

The enthusiasm extended to the Super Tuesday Straw Poll, which was won by Sen. Barack Obama, Rep. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Kate Brown (for Secretary of State) and John Kroger (for Attorney General.)

Congressman Wu, AG candidates Rep. Greg Macpherson and John Kroger, Steve Novick, and Bill Bradbury joined over four hundred other Democrats at the Portland party. “It’s fantastic to see so many Democrats not just in Portland but around the state understand that the Party is going to be the hub for presidential campaign activity in Oregon. We are raising resources, raising excitement,” said DPO Communications Director Marc Siegel. The other parties included events in Baker, Benton, Columbia, Clatsop, Coos, Curry, Deschutes, Douglas, Hood River, Jackson, Josephine, Lake, Lane, Linn, Marion and Polk (combined event), Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, and Wheeler and Gilliam (combined event).
