The campaign of Republican presidential nominee John McCain has confirmed to PolitickerAZ.com that McCain will visit Prescott on Monday as previously reported, but at a different time than first announced.
McCain is scheduled to appear at the Yavapai County Courthouse at 11 p.m. on Monday, along with his wife Cindy, for a "Road to Victory" rally. Doors open at 9 p.m.
The location hosted McCain in April, when he spoke before a crowd of thousands on the steps of the courthouse. McCain has wrapped up his senatorial campaigns on the same spot, in homage to the late Sen. Barry Goldwater, who announced his candidacy for president in 1964 from those steps. He, like McCain, went on to become the Republican Party's presidential nominee.
There was some dispute as to whether the event was actually scheduled. An announcement for a Monday rally in Prescott appeared on the Yavapai County Republican Party website, which was then reported by the (Prescott) Daily Courier. However, the McCain campaign was unable to confirm the event.
According to Republican National Committee spokesman Bill Riggs, the event will happen as announced, though at 11 p.m. as opposed to 9 p.m. as first indicated.
CORRECTION: The story originally stated the rally would occur at 11 a.m. on Monday, when in fact occuring Monday night. Bill Riggs was originally identified as a McCain campaign spokesman.
