Legislators to watch during session

The gavel came down yesterday and the special session began without a hitch. As lobbyists have the next few weeks to allow their wallets to fatten up for this years contested races, certain legislators may have an opportunity to use the session to position themselves nicely for some upcoming hotly contested races.

Primary campaign candidates to watch include: Jeff Merkley in what has become a tough primary campaign against activist Steve Novick; Greg Macpherson who is running in a tough primary against Lewis & Clark law professor John Kroger; all four state senators running for Secretary of State (Brad Avakian, Kate Brown, Rick Metsger and Vicki Walker), although Metsger is the only SOS candidate to voluntarily preclude himself from fundraising during session; and Jackie Dingfelder who is running in a primary campaign for Senator Avel Gordly's seat against Gordly's chief of staff, Sean Cruz.

Legislators facing possible tough challenges in the general election include: Vicki Berger who may face a tough challenge by the Democratic law student Richard Riggs; and Linda Flores who is facing Democrat lawyer and impressive fundraiser Brent Barton.

Really? Without a hitch?

Really? Without a hitch? How about the huge hang up in the House over the rule on minority reports?

How about this little list you've got? Legislators to watch: the ones running for higher office. Duh! How about including what they'll be working on (or in Merkley's case, what he'll be avoiding like the plague).

I've been watching this site since it came out, and I haven't learned anything from it yet. I rarely see any true "insider" information here, and when I do, it's always missing a hat tip to some other blog.

Whoever runs this site needs to get on top of it. Provide some insight. Go in depth. Maybe you should actually move to Oregon.
