HD-39: Kennemer pulls ahead of Forsberg for House seat

House Democrats may have been celebrating a 37-seat majority a little early.

State House candidate Bill Kennemer (R-Oregon City) pulled ahead of State House candidate Toby Forsberg on Thursday in the HD-39 race.

Kennemer is currently leading by 203 votes, with 13,000 votes still to count, according to The Oregonian.

If Kennemer emerges victorious, that leaves House Republicans with 24 representatives to the Democrats 36. Even if House Democrats lose the HD-39 seat, they will maintain their super-majority status when the legislature convenes in 2009.
