Obama increases lead in Oregon

BEND – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama opened up a big gap in the race for Oregon’s seven electoral votes, according to a poll released Tuesday.

That poll, conducted by KATU/Survey USA, shows Obama with a 17 point lead over Republican John McCain, 57-40 percent.  He added six points from when the same poll was last conducted three weeks ago, and led among all age groups, genders, and socioeconomic statuses of Oregonians.

The poll was conducted among 584 likely voters on Oct. 11 and Oct.12. The margin of error is +/- 4.1 percent.

Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the Beaver State. Oregonians have until 5 p.m. to get to their information in. Ballots will be mailed out across the state on Friday.
