Republican presidential candidate John McCain may be suspending his campaign operations later in the day, but Barack Obama’s Oregon campaign will be continuing with all of its scheduled events Thursday.
Obama’s Oregon spokeswoman Sahar Wali said that the campaign will be continuing with all phone banking and canvassing activities, as well as an economic forum featuring Oregon Treasurer Randall Edwards and Labor Commissioner Brad Avakain, scheduled to take place later this afternoon at Obama’s headquarters in southeast Portland.
“With all that is going on with the economy, it is imperative for Oregonians to know where Obama stands,” Wali said.
Wali also added that even though McCain was seeking to delay Friday’s scheduled presidential debate, it was important for Oregonians to be able to judge the two candidates side by side on economic issues.
“If there is any time to be debating about these issues, now is the time,” Wali said.
