Edens, a Democrat, thinks Smith better to ensure victims' rights

KOIN T.V. had a feature segment with Tiffany Edens, who starred in one of U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith's commercials released Friday accusing Democratic candidate Jeff Merkley of being soft on crime by not extending the statute of limitations for serial rapists.

"I have made the choice to vote for somebody that will ensure the rights of victims," Edens told reporter Mike Donahue.

Edens also told Donahue that she intended to campaign to change the law, and that meant supporting Smith (R-Pendleton), not Merkley (D-Portland).

Merkley supporters and community leaders will be holding a press conference at 1 p.m. to respond to the charges in the Smith ad.
