State Sen. Jason Atkinson (R-Central Point) is resting comfortably after undergoing surgery Monday on his knee, which was accidently shot last Wednesday as he was fixing a friend’s bicycle.
“Jason is doing well, excited to be over this hurdle and on the road to getting healthy again,” said Stephanie Atkinson, Jason’s wife. “The skill and care of the doctors, nurses and support staff here has given my family and I great confidence and peace of mind.”
Atkinson, who has been murmured as a possible gubernatorial candidate in 2010, had surgery to place two metal plates in his right leg to protect his femur while it heals. He is still in the hospital.
