Both the National and Oregon chapters of the League of Conservation Voters announced Monday that they would be endorsing state Sen. Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) in the 5th Congressional District race.
“Kurt Schrader has been a key leader in protecting Oregon from disastrous land use policies and promoting renewable energy,” OLCV Executive Director Jonathan Poisner said. “He has been an invaluable ally and partner in Oregon and we are extremely excited to continue our partnership when he represents Oregon in the United States Congress.”
The League of Conservation voters lists itself as a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating voters about environmental issues. Approximately 3,000 Oregonians are members of the LCV, and Schrader said he is ready to work with them in Washington toward a safer national environment.
“Whether it’s our landmark bottle bill or aggressive commitment toward renewable energy, Oregon has a legacy of environmental stewardship. I have fought to continue that legacy by fighting to reduce our carbon footprint and increasing our research into clean, renewable sources of energy,” Schrader said. ”I’m excited to take our Oregon successes to Washington, D.C.”
